a content company named after a weirdly tiny van.

Red Rascal was established by two chaps who worked in radio, film and advertising for years, before deciding to build a brand from scratch.

This experience gave them a great insight into how it’s done. They also met some amazing people who were doing the same thing. They made video and audio productions to promote the business, and found people liked them and wanted some of their own. So those little Rascals went ahead and made some. And they enjoyed it. So they kept on doing it. Eventually, they realised they liked doing it so much, they wanted to assemble a crack team of practitioners to offer smart copy, audio and video productions to start-ups and small businesses on the up.

So they did.

And they named their fledgling company after the comically small van owned by one of the founders: a glorious red Bedford Rascal called Pascal (and also because it sounds quite fun and slightly rebellious. Much like Pascal himself).

Fine, we’ll come clean, those two chaps are us – Wes and Lee – and we’re the founders of Red Rascal, a creative content company specialising in well-made, innovative productions, created on small budgets, with short lead-times, for small companies looking to build. We keep things slick and overheads low, so we can keep crafting content that’s always relevant.

If you’d like to work with us on a project, just let us know and we can chat about it over a coffee (or over a cheeky Zoom).

Lee Rowlett.

founder, writer/producer

Hairless Lee has been a copy/scriptwriter for more years than he wants to talk about. He’s written words for radio, film, print, online, and even brutally honest greeting cards. Lee wishes he liked people as much as Wes does, but that might not even be possible. He also watches way too many comedy series on Netflix and has a massive man-crush on Rafael Nadal.

Wes Venn.

founder, director/producer

People-loving Wes trained in the dark arts of video production, then moved into a successful career in radio production/on-air presenting, and now he does it all. Specialing in camera work and editing, Wes is not only the owner of a tiny, tiny van, he’s also a life-long fan of Luton Town FC (I know), and has an slightly unhealthy fascination with drug cartel documentaries.
